Another collection by Olivier Theyskens. This was a collection for Nina Ricci (the previous one was for Rochas). There is quite a difference in aesthetics which I find interesting, (maybe a little more deconstructed?) but he is still creating extraordinary pieces. Fall RTW 2007.

THE FIRST

Zac Posen SS RTW 2006. This was the first proper runway show that I ever saw (and by saw I mean I downloaded the podcast about eight months after it showed).

The great thing is; I can look back at this collection and still get just as excited about it! I love his use of colour and volume. He said in the video that he was playing with fabric as a sculpture on the body, and I think he does that extremely well. It's just effortless dressing. One of my favourite things is that immediately when sheer skirts started popping up, I thought back to this collection. I'm in no way saying that he was the first to do the sheer skirt, but, his did have a lasting impression!

If only I could get my hands on the black dress Gemma Ward is wearing... in fact, just the whole collection would be great.

This look reminds me of my favorite outfit from Pretty Woman, the orange suit:

Overall, I really liked the dresses, and I think that is what Lagerfeld does best. He says that his dresses come to him in his dreams, and I could believe it with some of them (especially the black and the white one above, though I think the pixie cuts on the models makes them!). What I couldn't believe was the shoes. Honestly, when is it ok for a flipflop and a boot to make a baby? NEVER. I can deal with the flipflop sandal things but not in knee-high boot form. But I am sure we will see them on the pages of Vogue because Karl sells!
